Burmester shares opening round lead with Fichardt
Burmester produced a brilliant finish to his opening round with an eagle and two birdies on his last four holes, to share the lead with fellow South African Darren Fichardt on Day 1 of the BMW PGA Championship.
There total now stands at 6-under-66, where Burmester shot an eagle on the par-4 15th, five birdies (four came on his back nine) and a lone bogey in the starting of his round and Fichardt remained bogey-free for the day.
World No. 31 Kiradech Aphibarnrat is looking for a solid finish at the event to claim his PGA Tour card, a card which even our own Shubhankar Sharma is looking forward to receiving. Kiradech was T-2, but as per the latest update, he is the sole leader with a shot at 7-under-65 and just two holes more to play.
Following Burmester and Fichardt by a shot for T-4 are Richard Bland, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Rory McIlroy (2014 winner), Shane Lowry, and Lucas Bjerregaard.
Alexander Noren, the defending champion has had a good 2018 season on the European as well as the PGA Tour. Noren finished at 2-under-69 for a T-22 position on the board with Tommy Fleetwood, Alexander Levy, Francesco Molinari, Ryan Fox, Adrian Saddier, Benjamin Hebert, Martin Kaymer, Hideto Tanihara, Alexander Bjork, Nicolas Colsaerts, and Maximilian Kiefer.
