European Tour Schedule
The last event in the month of January saw Rory McIlroy coming too close for a win and in an exciting turn of events got defeated with a shot by Haotong Li at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
February promises to be a great month on the European Tour with four events scheduled on the Tour and they are:
- Maybank Championship – Feb.1 – Feb. 4, 2018
- ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth – Feb. 8 – Feb.11, 2018
- NBO Oman Open – Feb. 15 – Feb. 18, 2018
- Commercial Bank Qatar Masters – Feb. 22 – Feb. 25, 2018
Maybank Championship is an annual golf tournament co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour. The inaugural event was played in 2016 at Royal Selangor Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur.
In 2017 the event was played at Saujana Golf Club and Country Club with a prize fund of US$3,000,000.
The 2018 edition will be played at Saujana Golf Club and Country Club from Feb.1 – Feb. 4, 2018, where Fabrizio Zanotti will be defending his title which he won by a stroke over David Lipsky in 2017.
The opening round was led by Chris Paisley, and the play was suspended due to fading light.
ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth
The World Super 6 Perth is a golf tournament first played in 2012 as the ISPS Handa World Super International. It is played at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth, Western Australia. It is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia, and it has a prize fund of A$1.75 million.
In 2017 a new format of Stroke Play and Match Play was introduced to it with 156-player field and cut being made at the top-65 and ties after 36-holes. After 54 holes, the field was cut to a fixed 24.
Brett Rumford from Australia will be defending his title this year which he won against Phachara Khongwatmai by 2&1.
NBO Oman Open
National Bank of Oman first brought Challenge Tour to Muscat in 2013 and after five years of successful events, it has succeeded in bringing the European Tour with NBO Oman Open. The event will be played at Al Mouj Golf, Muscat, designed by Greg Norman.
In 2017 Clement Sordet came out as the winner when it was still played on the Challenge Tour.
Commercial Bank Qatar Masters
Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is an annual golf tournament held at the Doha Golf Club in Doha, Qatar. The tournament was first played in 1998, and is one of the three European Tour Tournaments held in the countries of Persian Gulf, the others being the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
In 2017 Wang Jeung-hun beat Joakim Lagergren and Jaco van Zyl in a playoff to win the event.
