Pat Perez wins CIMB Classic by four strokes

Perez wins CIMB Classic

Pat Perez wins the CIMB Classic defeating Keegan Bradley by four shots today. Despite posting a decent 69 on the final day Perez was able to keep his lead from past three days on the final day.

With this title, Perez has moved to the second spot in the FedEx Cup Rankings and now has three titles to his name viz., Bob Hope Classic in 2009, OHL Classic in 2016 and CIMB Classic today. Perez posted rounds of 66, 65, 64 and a round of three-under 69 consisting four birdies and a bogey on the par-4, 6th.

Keegan Bradley, the runner-up

Keegan Bradley is currently ranked 98th in the Official World Golf Ranking and third on the FedEx Cup Rankings with today’s second finish at the CIMB Classic. Bradley posted rounds of 65, 71, 65 and 67 pushing Xander Schauffele to a shared third spot, who was securing his second spot on all three days.

The Followers

Rookie of The Year awardee Xander Schauffele was running for the second spot on all previous three days with his rounds of 65, 67 and 67, but what hit him hard was his final round of 72 consisting four-birdies and a same number of bogeys. He finished CIMB Classic for a T-3rd spot shared with Kang Sughoon who posted rounds of 67, 68, 65 & 71.

Last Years Runner-Up Hideki Matsuyama dropped a spot from his yesterday’s round posting one-under 71 today for a shared fifth spot with first days leader Cameron Smith who posted a mesmerizing round of eight-under 64 consisting nine birdies & a lone bogey on the par-3, 10th.

Anirban Lahiri’s T-10th finish

Anirban Lahiri who finished for a sixth spot yesterday dropped four spots with his one-under 71 final round performance. His round for today consisted four birdies, one each on the 3rd, 13th, 14th and the 17th holes and three bogeys, taking his total to 13 under 275.

Defending Champion, Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas who entered the event to defend his 2016’s title finished for a shared 17th spot with Camilo Villegas, and Chez Reavie. Thomas posted a five-under 67 round for today, his best at the event, taking his total to 11-under 277.
