Ajeetesh Sandhu has still got the hang of his recent past performances at the Yeangder TPC which he won and Macao Open where he finished for a shared second place, taking inspiration from the Sandhu now leads Day 1 at the Panasonic Open India on the Asian Tour, New Delhi.

Sandhu posted an eight-under 64 today consisting an illustrious eagle on the par-5 14, seven birdies and a bogey on the par-4 third. Coming from his recent win at the Yeangder TPC, Sandhu has surely shown a lot more grit after he missed an Asian Tour card last year, giving him more confident approach to his game and taking on the field today at the Panasonic Open, and he surely looks forward to keeping at it.

With the leaderboard filled with best Indian performances, Shamim Khan and Aman Raj share the second place with six-under 66, where Khan & Aman posted an identical looking round consisting seven birdies and a bogey to finish for the second place. It surely boosts up Raj’s confidence who recently missed the cut at Indonesia Open, won by the first-time winner, Panuphol.

Mukesh Kumar, The Defending Champion

Mukesh Kumar was victorious at the event in 2016 when he defeated Jyoti Randhawa and Rashid Khan by a stroke at Delhi Golf Club, New Delhi. Kumar in his round today is still playing at the T-39th place on the 13th hole, already conceding a double-bogey on the par-4 9th, shared with Feroz Singh Garewal, Sachin Baisoya, Jason Knutzon, Jyoti Randhawa, Sihwan Kim, Terry Pilkadaris, Sanjay Kumar and Ankur Chadha.

Panasonic Open is scheduled in India and it’s natural that we have a strong representation at home, leading the field is Sandhu, with a huge number of Indian players giving some strong performances today.
