Shubhankar Sharma accepts 2018 Masters Invitation
Shubhankar Sharma of India has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2018 Masters Tournament starting Apr.5 – Apr.8, 2018.
Sharma, 21, will look forward to make his first appearance at Augusta National Golf Club.
“Golf is a global game, and throughout our history we have extended invitations to deserving international players not otherwise qualified,” Ridley said in a statement. “As his results have proven, Shubhankar Sharma is a remarkable young player, and we look forward to welcoming him to Augusta National in April.”
The announcement was made official via a tweet just an hour back by Masters Tournament’s Twitter handle.

Sharma has had a terrific run over the past few months where his hard work and patience has resulted in wins in Africa and Asia, starting with the Joburg Open in Dec. 2017, followed by McLeod Russel Tour Championship on the PGTI Tour, and Maybank Championship in Singapore.
I am deeply honoured to be found worthy of invitation by the Masters Committee. It's a dream come true. My gratitude. https://t.co/0tRWIANFWG

His recent performance of T-9th, after leading it for consecutive two days at the WGC-Mexico, is surely one of the criteria for his invitation. Currently Sharma is ranked No.66 on the OWGR and is getting ready for the Hero Indian Open from Mar. 8, 2018, at the DLF Golf and Country Club.
With this invite Sharma becomes only the fourth Indian player to compete in the Masters, following Jeev Milkha Singh, Arjun Atwal, and Anirban Lahiri.
Sky is the limit for the young Indian, and a whole new era of the Indian Golf has arrived for sure.
