After an exciting finish to last week’s tournaments where Wade Ormsby won UBS Hong Kong Open co-sanctioned by the Asian and European Tour, Cameron Davis won Australian Open, this week too looks promising with exciting events scheduled and the most awaited event where Tiger Woods makes a come back at the Hero World Challenge. Events scheduled for the week are:
- PGA Tour – Hero World Challenge
- European Tour – Australia PGA Championship
- Asian Tour – AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open
PGA Tour – Hero World Challenge
Hero World Challenge is an annual golf tournament hosted by Tiger Woods and features only 18 of the top-ranked golf professionals. Initially, the tournament had a 16-man field composed of the defending champion, the top 11 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking, and four sponsors exemptions chosen by the Tiger Woods Foundation, subsequently increased to an 18-man field in 2008.
Last year’s champion Hideki Matsuyama will be defending his title and Tiger Woods will be making a come back awaited by the whole world, starting Nov 30th – Dec 3, 2017, in the Bahamas.
2. European Tour – Australia PGA Championship
The Australian PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It is the home tournament of the Australian PGA and dates back to 1905. Since 2000 it has been held in the South East Queensland region.
The tournament was also part of the OneAsia Tour from 2009 to 2014. Since 2015 it has been co-sanctioned with the European Tour.
The winner receives the Joe Kirkwood Cup, given by Australian golfer Joe Kirkwood, Sr. and first presented to Rufus Stewart in 1929.
Harold Varner III won the event in 2016 after defeating Andrew Dodt by two-strokes and this year the tournament will be played from Nov 30th – Dec 3rd, 2017.
3. Asian Tour – AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open
AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is a men’s professional golf tournament, co-sanctioned by the European Tour, Sunshine Tour, and Asian Tour. It began in 2015 and was played in Bel-Ombre, Mauritius, at Heritage Golf Club.The 2015 and 2016 events were played in May but in 2017 it was moved to December and was part of the 2018 European Tour schedule.
Wang Jeung-hun won the event in 2016 by a stroke over Siddikur Rehman from Bangladesh. The event will be played from Nov 30th – Dec 3rd, 2017.
